Chandigarh, April 19

Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today welcomed the Governor’s assent to the Jagat Jyot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Amendment Act 2026. He hoped that the Aam Aadmi Party government will now fulfill its promise to punish the guilty of sacrilege in Behbal Kalan and the subsequent events.
The PCC president reiterated that the passing of the act was a delaying tactic by the AAP government. “Now with the Governor having granted assent to the law, the AAP is not left with any excuse any more”, he said, adding, there are still about nine more months of the government’s tenure left. If the government really has any sincere intention to punish the guilty, let it make a beginning now.
