Mansa, October 30
Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Sardar Pargat Singh today joined the ongoing protest in Mansa demanding justice for Shaheed Parvinder Singh Jhotta and launched a scathing attack on the Bhagwant Mann government. He said Punjab’s youth are falling victim to drugs while the government remains busy with advertisements and hollow claims. If drugs are being eradicated, who will answer for the families being devastated every day? Why are major drug traffickers and their networks allegedly enjoying government protection?
Pargat said that people are being forced to take to the streets to demand justice for Parvinder Singh Jhotta, who raised his voice against drugs. This is clear evidence of the government’s failure. A government that claims to be eliminating drugs has failed to deliver justice even to those fighting against this menace. Justice must be ensured for Jhotta, and the safety of those raising their voices against drugs must be guaranteed.
During his visit, Pargat Singh also reached the residence of Daljit Singh, a young man who lost his life due to drugs, in village Bhamme Kalan. He met Daljit’s mother and wife and expressed his condolences. He said that a mother has lost her son, a wife has lost her life partner, and children have been left without their father’s support. Does the Chief Minister have any answer for these tears and shattered families?
Pargat said that before coming to power, the Aam Aadmi Party had promised a drug-free Punjab, but today it is running away from its commitments. The Punjab Congress will not abandon the affected families and will continue its struggle to secure justice for Daljit Singh’s family and Parvinder Singh Jhotta.
Pargat asserted that a government which cannot protect the lives of its own youth has no moral right to remain in power. Punjab will no longer tolerate more dead bodies, shattered families and government lies. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann must answer the people and resign, taking responsibility for his government’s failure.
