Dhuri (Sangrur), May 19
Union Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu today launched a sharp attack on the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab Government during his visit to Benra village in Dhuri constituency, alleging complete administrative failure and political vendetta.
While travelling through the area, Bittu was stopped by residents of Benra village in the scorching heat wave, who expressed deep anguish over the lack of development in their village. Villagers informed the Union Minister that despite repeated appeals, no significant work has been undertaken in the last four years, particularly in the crucial sectors of education and healthcare.
Responding to their concerns, Bittu issued a stern warning to the district administration and concerned officers, giving them a 15-day ultimatum to initiate development works in the village. “If the officers fail to start the pending works within fifteen days, then the Bharatiya Janata Party will itself take up the responsibility and begin the development process,” he declared.
The Union Minister said it is a matter of great concern that the constituency of the Chief Minister itself has become a symbol of political instability and public dissatisfaction. “Normally, the Chief Minister’s constituency should set an example for the rest of the state. In municipal elections, such constituencies often witness unanimous outcomes because of public confidence in leadership. But in Dhuri, candidates from all political parties are contesting, reflecting widespread disillusionment with the present government,” he said.
Bittu strongly condemned the rejection of nomination papers of three BJP candidates in the ongoing municipal elections and alleged deliberate misuse of government machinery to suppress democratic participation. “This is a direct assault on democracy. I want to clearly warn the Deputy Commissioner, Senior Superintendent of Police, SDM and Executive Officer that if they act under political pressure and violate the law, they too will be held accountable. Those who misuse their positions will eventually face the consequences,” he stated.
Bittu cautioned officials across the state against carrying out unlawful instructions from what he described as an “outgoing government.” “I appeal to honest officers not to compromise their integrity. Central agencies are keeping a close watch on corrupt officials and those who misuse their authority. Recent developments have demonstrated that the law ultimately catches up with everyone,” he said.
Calling upon the people of Dhuri to bring change, the Union Minister appealed to voters to elect a BJP-led municipal council. “I urge the residents of Dhuri to form a BJP council so that development can reach every ward without discrimination. The writing on the wall is clear — BJP is coming to power in Punjab in 2027,” he asserted.
Highlighting the Central Government’s commitment to Punjab, Shri Ravneet Singh noted that railway projects worth approximately ₹26,000 crore are currently underway in the state under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“Despite being Chief Minister, Bhagwant Mann has failed to deliver even a single Road Over Bridge in Dhuri over the last four years. This reflects the complete lack of vision and execution by the state government,” Bittu said.
Concluding his remarks, Bittu expressed confidence that Punjab would soon witness the benefits of a “double-engine government.” “With a BJP government in Punjab working in coordination with the Government of India, the state will enter a new era of rapid development, transparency and good governance,” he added.
