Chandigarh, August 15
The 80th Independence Day was celebrated with traditional fervour at Government College of Education, Sector 20-D, Chandigarh, with the unfurling of the National Flag. Chief Guest Urmil unfurled the Tricolour in the presence of the Principal, faculty members, office and administrative staff, students and children.
Principal Dr. Sapna Nanda extended warm greetings to everyone on the occasion and highlighted the significance of Independence Day. In her address, she emphasised the role of educational institutions in nurturing responsible, compassionate and patriotic citizens. She encouraged students to uphold the ideals of democracy, unity, inclusivity and service to the nation, and to contribute meaningfully towards building a progressive and developed India.
Students from the Music Department and staff members presented patriotic songs, filling the atmosphere with national pride. The young participants also showcased their creativity and talent through colourful cultural performances, adding joy and enthusiasm to the celebration.
Sweets were distributed among those present to mark the occasion. The programme was conducted by Staff Secretary Dr. Lilu Ram and NSS Programme Officers Dr. Balwinder Kaur, Dr. Aarti Bhatt and Dr. Upasna Thapliyal.
The function was attended by faculty members, office and administrative staff, students and children. The celebration concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.
