Chandigarh, June 14
BJP Punjab State Media Head Vineet Joshi today came live to address a series of pressing issues confronting the Kharar constituency. Ranging from civic struggles to the deepening drug crisis, the issues were vociferously taken up by the senior BJP leader. Drawing on five years of relentless engagement with local problems, Joshi highlighted both the achievements of his party and the urgent challenges that remain unresolved.
Joshi reminded the people that his journey has been one of continuous effort, “Nanak Dukhiya Sab Sansar (the whole world suffers, but we must strive to reduce suffering in our own communities) From saving one lakh homes in Naya Gaon’s eco‑sensitive zone, repairing flood‑damaged roads along the Patiala ki Rao river, ensuring drinking water supply, fixing dug‑up market roads and addressing electricity shortages in Singhadevi, Joshi underscored that the BJP’s work has been recognized by the people. In his Facebook live interaction, he said, “The launch of the city’s bus service stand and the party’s excellent performance in Municipal Council elections are testimony to these efforts.”
Yet, Joshi declared, one issue towers above all others—the scourge of drugs. “Punjab’s youth are being destroyed,” he said, warning that the situation has worsened drastically in the past four years under the Aam Aadmi Party government. “Where once queues formed for rations, now queues form for drugs. Where liquor vends stood, chitta vends thrive. Drug traffickers, emboldened, no longer fear anti‑drug committees; they assault them. They even fire upon police during raids. This is not a war against drugs—it looks like a war to spread them further,” Joshi charged.
Against this backdrop, Joshi raised troubling questions about Kharar MLA Anmol Gagan Maan. Her social media posts, he alleged, show her with individuals accused of drug trafficking. “This is not hearsay; I speak with proof,” Joshi asserted. He pointed to one name in particular: Varinder Singh.
“An FIR was registered against Varinder Singh on April 17, 2025, at Naya Gaon police station—within the Kharar constituency. The FIR details recovery of poppy husk, chitta and other narcotics from his vehicle. Yet, eight months later, on December 20, 2025, Anmol Gagan Maan posted photos with him on her Facebook. This was not before the case, but long after. He was out on bail and she was publicly associating with him. Why?” Joshi asked.
The BJP leader said that the matter did not end there. “On June 5, 2026, another case was registered against Varinder Singh. He was found intoxicated and medical tests confirmed morphine and buprenorphine in his system. Despite this, Joshi noted, Anmol Gagan Maan’s social media continues to feature him. This is not a coincidence; it is a pattern,” he claimed.
Joshi warned that such associations send a dangerous message. “When Punjab Police—under the Aam Aadmi Party government—registers cases against a man for drug trafficking and the MLA of that very party posts photos with him months later, what message does it send? To the youth, to the traffickers, to society? It signals protection, patronage and blessing. It undermines every claim of a ‘war against drugs,” he announced.
Joshi listed the villages suffering under the weight of drugs—Naya Gaon, Tanda, Tandi, Khanpur, Masol, Perch, Seonk, New Chandigarh, Majri, Sialba Majri, Abheypur, Mirzapur—and said that when their MLA is seen with accused traffickers, people naturally conclude that the trade flourishes under her shadow. “If this is not her intention, then she must clarify. Silence will only confirm suspicion,” he added.
Joshi emphasized that the evidence he presented—dates, FIRs, photos, videos—came directly from Anmol Gagan Maan’s own Facebook account and from cases registered by Punjab Police. “The evidence is clear. Now, Anmol Gagan Maan must answer: why are you associating with an accused drug trafficker? Why are you posting photos and reels with him after cases have been registered? Why are you, knowingly or unknowingly, giving legitimacy to those destroying Punjab’s youth,” he questioned.
Joshi warned that if answers are not forthcoming, protests will be staged outside her house. “We will demand accountability. And if links with drug traffickers are proven, we will take the next course of action. Punjab’s future is at stake. The youth cannot be sacrificed at the altar of political patronage,” he asserted.
Joshi concluded with a powerful appeal: “Friends, this is not about politics alone. It is about the soul of Punjab. Drugs have entered homes, destroyed families, and stolen futures. Every leader must stand against this menace. But when leaders are seen with traffickers, the fight collapses. That is why I raise my voice today. Not for myself, but for the people of Kharar, for the youth of Punjab, for the generations to come. Anmol Gagan Maan, the time for answers has arrived. The people demand clarity. The people demand accountability. And until that is given, the struggle will continue.”
