Chandigarh, February 1

Bharatiya Janata Party State President Sunil Jakhar said that the Union Budget is focused on the poor, labourers, farmers, women, youth, and backward classes, and will prove to be a milestone in fulfilling the resolve of making India a developed nation by 2047.

While reacting to the Budget, Sunil Jakhar stated that it is inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s policy of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.” He said that Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has emphasized ensuring that every section of society is taken into account, with a focus on creating new employment opportunities and strengthening infrastructure development across the country. He said that the substantial allocation for infrastructure development demonstrates that the Government of India is moving steadily towards making the country a developed nation.

Jakhar further said that the Budget introduces the “She Mart” scheme for women and also announces the opening of hostels in every district for working women and female students, which will play a significant role in women’s empowerment. He added that the announcements made in the new Budget for the sports industry and MSMEs will greatly benefit Punjab’s industrial sector.

Jakhar also stated that under the policy of cooperative federalism, an allocation of ₹1.4 lakh crore has been announced for states for development, as per the recommendations of the 16th Finance Commission, which will ensure holistic development across the country.

Meanwhile, Ashwani Sharma, State Working President, BJP Punjab, has also hailed the Union Budget 2026 terming it as a visionary, pro-people and growth-oriented budget, which strengthens the foundation of a self-reliant and developed India under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Sharma said that the budget reflects the government’s commitment to middle class relief, youth empowerment, farmers’ welfare and women-led development. He particularly welcomed the significant income tax relief for the middle class, which will increase disposable income and boost consumption, thereby strengthening the economy.

Praising the focus on farmers, he said that enhanced allocation for agriculture, MSP assurance, rural infrastructure and agri-startups will directly benefit Punjab’s farming community and promote sustainable agriculture.

Sharma also appreciated the special thrust on employment generation, skill development, startups, MSMEs and manufacturing, which will create new opportunities for youth and small entrepreneurs. Increased investment in healthcare, education, digital infrastructure and affordable housing further proves that this is a budget for every section of society.

Calling it a “budget for Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas,” Sharma said that the Union Budget 2026 will accelerate India’s journey towards becoming a global economic powerhouse while ensuring inclusive and balanced growth for all citizens.
