Patiala Foundation Successfully Conducts Patiala Heritage Walk

In a proud celebration of Patiala’s rich royal legacy and architectural grandeur, Patiala Foundation successfully conducted the Patiala Heritage Walk (Shahi Samadhan to Qila Mubarak) today under the Patiala Heritage Festival 2026, in collaboration with the District Administration Patiala and the Municipal Corporation Patiala under the Patiala Heritage Festival 2026.

The heritage walk commenced from the revered Shahi Samadhan, the royal cremation memorial of the erstwhile rulers of Patiala, and culminated at the majestic Qila Mubarak, one of Punjab’s most iconic and historically significant landmarks. The initiative aimed to promote heritage conservation, civic awareness, and a renewed sense of pride in Patiala’s glorious past.

The walk witnessed enthusiastic participation from citizens, students, heritage enthusiasts, and community members who explored the historic corridor while learning about the architectural brilliance, historical narratives, and cultural significance of these monuments.

The event was honored by the esteemed presence of Varjeet Walia (IAS) (Deputy Commissioner, Patiala),  Deepjot Kaur (Joint Commissioner, PCS), Chief Guest Harpal Juneja (Chairman, PRTC), Satish Chandra (CMO), along with other distinguished officials and community members, all of whom commended the initiative and applauded Patiala Foundation’s dedicated efforts toward heritage conservation.

A major highlight of the walk was the active participation of students and faculty from prominent educational institutions, including GSSSS Old Police Lines, Pheel Khana; Government College for Girls; Multani Mal Modi College; and Government State College of Education. Their presence significantly strengthened youth engagement and reinforced the importance of connecting academic learning with cultural heritage.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest Harpal Juneja, Chairman PRTC, said, “Patiala’s heritage is a matter of immense pride for every citizen. Initiatives like the Heritage Walk not only showcase our historical richness but also create awareness about preserving it for generations to come. When administration, organizations, and citizens come together, meaningful change becomes possible. I congratulate Patiala Foundation for consistently taking steps that strengthen our cultural and civic identity.”

In his address, Varjeet Walia, (IAS) Deputy Commissioner Patiala said, “Patiala’s heritage is a priceless asset that reflects our history, culture, and identity. Initiatives like this Heritage Walk encourage citizens—especially students—to understand and value the historical richness of our city. The District Administration remains committed to supporting meaningful efforts that promote preservation and civic pride.”

Addressing the gathering,  Ravee Singh Ahluwalia, Founder & CEO, Patiala Foundation, said, “Every monument in Patiala narrates a story of legacy and leadership. Through this Heritage Walk from Shahi Samadhan to Qila Mubarak, we aim to reconnect citizens with their roots and inspire collective responsibility toward safeguarding our heritage. Heritage is not just about remembrance—it is about responsibility for the future.”

The event was successfully executed through the dedicated efforts of Patiala Foundation’s team members including Dr. Abhinandan Bassi, Nishu Gupta (Coordinator), S.P. Chand, Pawan Goyal, Ravaldeep Singh, along with volunteers Satnam Singh, Sanyam, Tarika, Kritika, Kawalpreet, Mohit, Krishan Kant, Navdeep, Nidash, Garima, Rudrakshi, Niharika, Rudrakash, Jayanti, Komal, Suhani, Prisha, Tanishq, Dhwani, Aanya, Sahima, Sudharshan, Lakshya, Aditya, Abhishek(RGNUL Legal Aid Clinic), Arshdeep Singh, Sukhpreet Singh, Karambeer Singh, Sarvesh, Krish Kumar, Dhruv, Naman, Lakash, Ishaan, Sukhmanpreet, Manjot, Dikshant, Poornima, Sanjna (Modi College), Aadishwar and others who ensured smooth coordination, participant management, and on-ground support throughout the walk.

Patiala Foundation extended sincere gratitude to the District Administration Patiala and the Municipal Corporation Patiala for their continued support and collaboration. The initiative concluded with a collective pledge by participants to actively contribute toward preserving historical monuments, maintaining cleanliness around heritage sites, and promoting civic responsibility.

With the successful execution of the Patiala Heritage Walk (Shahi Samadhan to Qila Mubarak) 2026, Patiala Foundation reaffirms its commitment to organizing impactful initiatives that strengthen heritage conservation, youth engagement, and community participation.
