State NSS Convention (Punjab & UT Chandigarh) concludes

The two-day State NSS Convention for Punjab & UT Chandigarh concluded on a high note at Chandigarh University with a grand valedictory ceremony, marking a significant milestone in strengthening youth engagement and community service under the National Service Scheme (NSS).

The convention brought together State NSS Officer Punjab and UT Chandigarh, NSS Programme Coordinators, NSS Programme Officers, NSS Awardees, volunteers, and officials from across the region, creating a vibrant platform for dialogue, collaboration, and exchange of best practices aimed at nation-building.

During the valedictory ceremony, the Chief Guest Prof. (Dr.) R. S. Bawa, Advisor to the Hon’ble Chancellor, Chandigarh University, addressed the gathering and highlighted the importance of NSS in shaping responsible citizens. He emphasized that NSS plays a vital role in instilling values of selfless service, discipline, and social responsibility among youth. He further appreciated the initiative of organizing a joint state convention, calling it a progressive step towards integrated development and stronger coordination between Punjab and UT Chandigarh. He encouraged NSS volunteers to continue contributing actively towards the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047, stressing that youth are the backbone of the nation. He also lauded the dedication of Programme Officers and coordinators in expanding the reach and impact of NSS activities.

Earlier, in the welcome address, the significance of NSS as a platform for youth empowerment and nation-building was underlined, along with acknowledgment of the guidance and leadership of dignitaries from the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports and NSS Directorate. The convention featured insightful sessions, expert talks, group discussions, and presentations, enabling participants to review achievements, share innovative practices, and propose actionable recommendations for strengthening NSS at the grassroots level.

Adding to the conclusion, Regional Director, NSS Regional Directorate Chandigarh, Jai Bhagwan, expressed satisfaction over the successful organization of the convention. He stated that the two-day event witnessed active participation, meaningful discussions, and impactful outcomes, making it a highly productive and enriching experience for all stakeholders.

The recommendations and suggestions gathered during the convention will be formally submitted to the Directorate of NSS, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, for further strengthening NSS initiatives across the region. The convention concluded with a strong message of unity and commitment to the NSS motto, “Not Me But You,” reinforcing the spirit of selfless service and collective responsibility among the youth.
