Dehradun, April 27
Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan on Monday reviewed the Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) 2.0 at the Secretariat. Various issues were discussed during the meeting, and the Chief Secretary issued directions. He instructed that a complete mechanism for solid waste management be prepared across the State and asked for an early submission of the action plan. He further directed officials to make additional funds available under the Mission for solid waste disposal along the Char Dham Yatra routes and at the entry points of districts. District Magistrates were asked to ensure cleanliness along the pilgrimage routes and around the four shrines, with emphasis on proper utilization of these additional funds.
The Chief Secretary also directed that treated water from sewage treatment plants across the State be mandatorily used for non-potable purposes. He said that wherever sewage treatment plants are installed, a plan must be prepared to ensure 100% utilization of treated water in nearby areas for non-drinking purposes.
Additionally, he instructed that all compressed biogas plants and waste-to-energy plants within the State be completed and made operational at the earliest. He emphasized that the Vehicle Location Tracking System should also be launched quickly to ensure effective monitoring of door-to-door waste collection.
