Chandigarh, May 8
BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh launched a sharp attack on the Bhagwant Mann government following the ED raids and investigations linked to close associates of AAP leaders. Chugh said the truth behind the Aam Aadmi Party’s claims of “clean politics” is now being exposed layer by layer. He said those who once distributed certificates of honesty are today facing allegations linked to fake land documents, CLU approvals, bundles of cash and politically protected corruption networks.
Chugh said this is not merely an isolated case involving a builder, but a much larger scandal related to organized land loot operating under political patronage in Punjab. He alleged that leaders sitting in Delhi and Punjab together have turned the state into a centre of corruption and loot while misleading people in the name of “badlav”.
Targeting Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Chugh questioned why he continues to make baseless allegations against the BJP while hiding his government’s failures behind farmer politics. He said AAP had promised farm loan waivers, MSP on 24 crops and an agricultural revolution before coming to power, but none of these promises have been fulfilled. He added that while Prime Minister Narendra Modi is directly transferring financial assistance to farmers, the Punjab government has failed to provide any meaningful top-up support.
The BJP leader further stated that Punjab today is trapped in a severe crisis of drug mafia, gangster networks, extortion, unemployment and collapsing law and order. He alleged that corruption has become institutionalized under the AAP government while the Chief Minister remains busy in political theatrics and public statements instead of governance. Chugh said neither an education revolution, nor a health revolution, nor an agricultural transformation is visible in Punjab today.
Chugh urged Bhagwant Mann to stop indulging in political rhetoric and focus on saving Punjab from chaos and criminal networks. Referring to recent bomb blast incidents, he said the government must identify both the perpetrators and the masterminds behind such activities. Chugh asserted that the people of Punjab deserve answers and reiterated his demand to the Chief Minister: “Either provide proof or resign.”
