Chandigarh, May 12

Bharatiya Janata Party Punjab President Sunil Jakhar blamed the Aam Aadmi Party for what he described as a well-planned conspiracy behind the simultaneous attacks on BJP offices in Batala, Tarn Taran, Ludhiana, and Zirakpur in recent days. He said AAP was trying to create Bengal-like conditions in Punjab under Mamata’s style of politics, but such cheap political tactics would not be able to stop the ED and CBI’s action against corruption. He was speaking to the media after meeting the SSP of Mohali and demanding action against those involved in yesterday’s incident.

The BJP President said that as the heat of the Central Government’s anti-corruption action started reaching the top leadership of AAP, the party became rattled and resorted to low-level politics by orchestrating attacks on BJP offices. He said the fact that the attacks occurred at the same time and followed a similar pattern was proof of a deep conspiracy and a planned strategy by AAP.

Jakhar further stated that after yesterday’s attack in Zirakpur, the SSP acted promptly, but it was important not just to arrest the foot soldiers. He demanded that the police expose the real masterminds behind the conspiracy and investigate who planned and coordinated these attacks on BJP offices.

Responding to journalists’ questions, Jakhar said that when the Vigilance Department, which works directly under the Chief Minister and is responsible for preventing corruption, itself becomes involved in corrupt activities, then CBI intervention becomes necessary. He questioned what moral basis AAP leaders had to oppose ED and CBI action against corruption.

Jakhar added that the law is equal for everyone, and it is this fear of the law that has forced Delhi leaders, who allegedly turned “50 Number Kothi” into a “Sheesh Mahal,” to stay at the Mohali Rest House instead of there. He said, “Every file will be opened, and everyone will be held accountable.”

Jakhar also said that during the investigation of the DIG Bhullar case, the CBI must have uncovered leads regarding several officers and middlemen, and the agency would proceed according to the law. He again warned officers who had forgotten their accountability towards the law and the people of Punjab and had instead started acting as political workers of AAP. He said every honest officer working according to rules deserves respect, but anyone behaving like a political agent would certainly face action.

Replying to a question regarding the Congress party, Jakhar said the Congress President’s support for the government’s stand on the CBI action reflected his own fear. He alleged that the same kind of bus body deals that happened during the Congress government in Rajasthan were now being repeated by the AAP government. He said that even if Congress surrenders before AAP, whether corruption involves an AAP leader or a Congress leader, everyone will eventually face accountability.

Regarding the Vigilance and CBI raids, Jakhar also shared a message on social media stating that every individual involved in corruption would face the law. He wrote, “After the CBI raid conducted at the Punjab Vigilance office last night, panic has spread not only among officers but also among ministers and leaders. They have started looking for ways to save themselves. But the corrupt will not escape —‘Everyone involved will be caught.’ The time for ‘everyone’s accountability’ is now drawing near.”
