Senior leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab on Tuesday criticised the BJP-led Central Government over the continuous hike in fuel prices, stating that the Modi Government’s failed foreign and domestic policies have pushed the country towards an unprecedented inflation crisis. The leaders said the Centre has weakened India’s economic sovereignty and burdened ordinary people with rising prices of fuel and essential commodities.
AAP Punjab President and Cabinet Minister Aman Arora stated that the soaring prices of petrol and diesel are a direct consequence of the Modi Government’s complete failure in policymaking at both domestic and international levels. “Despite making tall claims of turning India into a ‘Vishwaguru’, the Modi Government has failed to secure the country’s energy future. Over the last decade, fuel consumption has increased massively, but instead of strengthening domestic production and energy security, the Centre has increased India’s dependence on imports. This is nothing but a total collapse of the Central Government’s domestic and international policies,” Arora said.
The AAP leaders stated that the BJP Government is “looting the pockets of ordinary Indians” while protecting the interests of foreign powers and big corporations. They warned that if the Centre continues on the same path, the country could face an even deeper economic crisis in the coming months.
Demanding an immediate rollback of fuel price hikes, the AAP leaders urged people across the country to unite against what they described as the Modi Government’s “anti-people, anti-farmer and anti-national economic policies.”
