Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal today appealed to the people to give a clear cut verdict against the Aadm Aadmi Party (AAP) in the municipal elections to send a strong signal against all Delhi based parties. Appealing to the people to support the SAD, Badal said, “Malout has a special place in my heart as this constituency was nursed by my mother”. Assuring people that he would visit the city on polling day to ensure AAP attempts to hijack the elections did not succeed, he appealed to them to usher in a Committee led by the SAD.

Badal also warned AAP leaders not to try to hijack the election process. Asserting that AAP would be at a loss if it did this, Badal said, “Punjabis never tolerate highhandedness and are known to fight against tyranny”.

Asserting that Punjabis had chosen to reject all Delhi based parties, Badal said, “The SAD is the lone party which can rise up to the expectations of the people. Electing the SAD  to power in the municipal elections is also important to ensure seamless coordination once the SAD forms the government in 2027”.

Speaking about the development in Malout, he said it was unfortunate that it had been ignored during both to the previous Congress and present AAP government. “All civic amenities are in shambles. Both the Congress and AAP have no right to ask for your votes,” he added. Badal announced the SAD was committed to the development of Malout. “We will bring investment into the city to provide employment as well as business opportunities to its residents,” he told the gathering.

Answering media questions, Badal said a case should be registered against AAP legislator Kulwant Singh Bazigar for openly announcing he would indulge in booth capturing. He also condemned the AAP government for not releasing Dearness Allowance (DA) dues of government employees and pensioners despite court directions in this regard. He also urged MP Harbhajan Singh to make a full disclosure how much money had been given to the AAP leadership by Rajinder Gupta, Ashok Mittal and others to secure Rajya Sabha seats.
