Shimla, June 5
BJP senior spokesperson and MLA Trilok Jamwal said that after the massive victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party in the recently concluded Panchayati Raj and local body elections in the state and the crushing defeat of the Congress Party, Congress ministers are now making reckless and baseless remarks out of frustration. He said that the despair of Congress leaders, rejected by the people, is clearly reflected in their statements.
Jamwal stated that the recent comment made by Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi regarding the chant of “Jai Shri Ram” is extremely unfortunate and objectionable. He emphasized that Lord Shri Ram is a symbol of faith, belief, and culture for millions of Hindus. “Jai Shri Ram” is not a political slogan but an integral part of Sanatan culture. He added that those who follow Sanatan tradition consider it the foundation of their culture, identity, and life values. Greeting someone with “Ram-Ram” or “Jai Shri Ram” is a natural part of social interaction. In such a context, why Congress leaders object to this is beyond comprehension.
Jamwal said that the mindset of the Congress Party and its leaders has repeatedly come to light. He referred to the Chief Minister’s earlier statement highlighting that he comes from a state with 97 percent Hindu population, which, according to Jamwal, reflects Congress’s thinking and outlook. He also recalled an incident during the Assembly session in Dharamshala when a remark was made about the Chief Minister saying “Radhe-Radhe.” Now, with the Revenue Minister objecting to “Jai Shri Ram,” it proves that Congress leadership remains uncomfortable with Sanatan traditions and Hindu beliefs.
Jamwal stressed that Himachal Pradesh is Dev Bhoomi (land of the gods), where culture, traditions, and lifestyle are deeply rooted in Sanatan values. The people of the state respect their faith and traditions and will not accept any anti-Sanatan mindset. He accused the Congress Party of openly indulging in appeasement politics. With repeated electoral defeats and declining public support, Congress leaders are attempting to divert attention by making controversial statements on religious and cultural issues.
Jamwal concluded that Minister Jagat Singh Negi’s statement is not just an insult to the BJP but to millions of devotees of Lord Ram and those who believe in Sanatan tradition. Therefore, he must publicly apologize for his remarks. He reaffirmed that the Bharatiya Janata Party respects Sanatan culture, Indian traditions, and the faith of society, and will continue to strongly oppose such statements at both democratic and ideological levels.
