Khatima, November 3
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday participated in a programme at Rana Market (Sitarganj Road) in Khatima and performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the proposed widening of the motor road from Khatima Chowk to Tharu Vikas Bhawan, a project being undertaken at a cost of ₹14.97 crore.
The Chief Minister said that widening of the road would significantly improve connectivity for local residents, traders and people arriving from nearby areas. He added that the project would help streamline traffic movement and provide much-needed relief from congestion in the area.
Expressing gratitude for the affection and support of the people of Khatima, Dhami said his bond with the constituency goes beyond that of a public representative and is akin to an unbreakable mother-son relationship. He said the love and blessings of the people continue to inspire him to serve the state with dedication.
The Chief Minister said the state government is continuously working for the all-round development of Khatima. Several initiatives are underway to strengthen road infrastructure, education, healthcare, transportation and other basic amenities in the region. Significant work has also been carried out in the education sector, including construction of buildings at government colleges and modernization of ITIs and girls’ schools.
He said local residents were benefiting from the widening of roads, construction of bridges and development of facilities such as a bus terminal. He also highlighted that, keeping farmers’ interests in mind, priority is being given to the smooth functioning of the sugar mill as well as timely sugarcane crushing and payments.
Dhami said extensive efforts are also being made to improve the drainage system in Khatima. He noted that projects such as the Oxygen Park, Crocodile Park and the development of religious sites would further boost tourism activities in the region.
The Chief Minister said transforming Khatima into a clean, beautiful and modern town remains one of his key priorities, and all development-related works would continue with full commitment in the future.
Earlier, Dhami walked from Khatima Chowk to the programme venue, where local residents accorded him a warm welcome with flower garlands at various points along the route.
