Patiala, January 28

As part of National Road Safety Month 2026, Patiala Foundation successfully conducted another First Responder Programme under its Human Ambulance Initiative at Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab (RGNUL) today. The initiative aimed at equipping the caregivers with essential life-saving skills, basic trauma care knowledge, and the confidence required to respond effectively during road accidents and medical emergencies.

The Basic Life Support (BLS) Training Session was conducted by experts from Manipal Hospitals, led by Dr. Jagdeep Singh, Head – Emergency & Critical Care. The session created an impactful learning environment for first responders and emphasized the importance of timely intervention during the Golden Hour. Under this programme, Patiala Foundation has trained 452 individuals so far, strengthening community-level emergency preparedness.

The event was graced by  Babandeep Singh, RTO, Patiala, who appreciated Patiala Foundation’s consistent efforts in promoting road safety and emergency response skills. Speaking on the occasion, Babandeep said, “Road safety awareness and first responder training are critical life skills. Initiatives like these empower citizens to act responsibly and confidently during emergencies. Patiala Foundation is doing commendable work by taking such training directly to educational institutions and the community.”

The successful conduct of the programme was made possible due to the dedicated efforts of volunteers of RGNUL Legal Aid Clinic (RLAC). Commenting on the workshop,  Ravee Singh Ahluwalia, Founder & CEO, Patiala Foundation, said, “I am pleased to note the successful conduct of the Basic Life Support (BLS) Workshop at RGNUL. Equipping adults with life-saving skills such as CPR, the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) and effective first response in medical emergencies is not merely an academic exercise—it is a vital public safety intervention.”

Ahluwalia further commended and congratulated RGNUL Punjab authorities for recognizing the importance of preventive readiness and experiential learning, adding that such initiatives cultivate responsible citizens capable of safeguarding lives. “Timely and informed action by trained bystanders remains one of the strongest pillars of emergency response,” he emphasized.

In pursuance of National Road Safety Month 2026, Patiala Foundation has been actively conducting a series of impactful initiatives across Patiala district, in collaboration with the District Administration, Patiala, to promote road safety awareness, responsible behaviour, and emergency preparedness.

Throughout January, the Foundation organized CHIPKAR Camps at key locations, including Tripuri Labour Chowk, Qila Chowk, Gurudwara Dukhniwaran Sahib Cycle Stand, and Polo Ground, Patiala. These camps encouraged citizens—especially children and youth—to adopt safe road practices through interactive engagement. Over 500 road safety stickers were pasted on bicycles and nearly 17,000 individuals were sensitized through online awareness campaigns. Additionally, Road Safety Awareness Lectures were conducted at various government schools such as G.S.S.S. Old Police Lines, Model Town, and Civil Lines, where students were educated on traffic rules, pedestrian safety, helmet and seatbelt usage, and responsible road behaviour.

Reiterating the Foundation’s commitment, Ahluwalia said, “Road safety is not just about rules; it is about responsibility and compassion. Through awareness, training, and community participation, we aim to create safer roads and empower citizens to save lives. Every informed individual can make a difference.” Further awareness sessions and training programmes are scheduled for the last week of January, with additional schools set to participate, ensuring wider outreach and deeper community impact.

The dedicated team of Patiala Foundation, along with volunteers Tarika Walia, Harpreet Singh, Kritika Joshi, Navisha Mittal and team members Nishu Gupta, Ravaldeep Singh and Mr. Daljinder Singh, has been working tirelessly on the ground to reinforce the message that road safety is a shared responsibility. “Patiala Foundation remains steadfast in its mission to promote road safety through education, collaboration, and action, striving to build a safer, more aware, and responsive society”, concluded Ahluwalia.
