Patiala, April 25
In a continued effort to inspire responsible water usage among the younger generation, Patiala Foundation conducted its fifth workshop under the initiative “Save Water: Think, Act, Preserve” at New Daffodils High School, Patiala, Punjab. The initiative, organized in collaboration with the Punjab State Council for Science and Technology (PSCST) and supported by the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, focused on building awareness and encouraging actionable change.
Conducted under Project PRITHVI, the flagship initiative of Patiala Foundation, the workshop aimed to nurture a sense of environmental responsibility among students while promoting sustainable practices and conscious living.
The session commenced with a pre-activity assessment to evaluate students’ existing understanding of water usage and conservation. This was followed by thoughtfully curated sessions conceptualized by Ravee Singh Ahluwalia, Founder and CEO of Patiala Foundation, aimed at nurturing awareness and encouraging responsible environmental behaviour. He emphasized that the future of water conservation depends on the choices we make today, highlighting the importance of adopting simple, mindful habits to safeguard this vital resource. The session concluded with a post-assessment to measure learning outcomes.
The workshop featured an informative session on clean and safe water, along with the growing concern of water scarcity, delivered by Rudraksh Sisodia from Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law. He highlighted the critical importance of protecting water resources to ensure public health, ecological balance, and long-term sustainability. Addressing key issues such as overconsumption, pollution, and climate change, he encouraged students to adopt responsible water usage practices and actively contribute to conservation efforts.
Adding further value to the workshop, Nishu Gupta conducted an engaging and interactive session focused on practical approaches to water conservation in daily life. Using activity-based methods, real-life examples, and simple strategies, she motivated students to adopt mindful water-saving habits. As part of the activity, students wrote postcards to their parents, encouraging conservation practices at home, and created messages for the “Water Tree,” reinforcing daily reminders to save water.
The session also involved dynamic discussions and activities where students explored important aspects such as water wastage, sustainable consumption, and conservation practices like reuse, efficient usage, and rainwater harvesting. The workshop strongly reinforced the idea of converting awareness into action.
The session was further supported by Pawan Goyal, Senior Member of Patiala Foundation, who sensitized students through practical examples and encouraged them to adopt responsible habits for saving water. His engaging approach helped reinforce the importance of individual contribution towards conservation.
Aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), the initiative underscored the importance of collective responsibility in addressing environmental challenges.
Sharing his vision, Ravee Singh Ahluwalia, Founder and CEO of Patiala Foundation, stated, “Water conservation is not just a responsibility, but a necessity for our survival. The small choices we make in our daily lives can collectively create a lasting impact. Through such initiatives, we aim to empower the younger generation to become conscious citizens and active contributors towards a sustainable future.”
The organizing team extends its heartfelt gratitude to Harpreet Singh Sandhu (Chairman) for encouraging students to adopt water conservation practices. Special thanks are also extended to the school management—Pardeep Kaur (Principal), Anuradha Rani, Sudha Rani and Varinder Kaur of New Daffodils High School, Patiala—for their valuable support and cooperation in successfully conducting the workshop.
This initiative, conducted under the aegis of PSCST and supported by the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, reflects a shared commitment to building environmentally conscious citizens dedicated to sustainable living. The session concluded with a strong call to adopt small actions to save water and encouraged students to become ambassadors of change. Patiala Foundation remains committed to reinforcing the message that small, consistent efforts can lead to significant impact.
