Chandigarh, April 25
The Lawrence Bishnoi gang has unleashed chilling threats against Sidhu Moosewala’s father Balkaur Singh and a string of Punjab’s political heavyweights after the Centre halted ZEE5’s controversial docuseries Lawrence of Punjab.
In a menacing message, the gang vowed to force the documentary’s release “at any cost,” warning those named—including Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, former Deputy CM Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, DGP Gaurav Yadav, Sangrur MP Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia and Advocate General Maninderjit Singh Bedi—to “prepare their shrouds.” The gang declared it would no longer seek extortion money but instead resort to “bullets and bombs.”
The threats surfaced after ZEE5 told the Delhi High Court that the Centre had advised against streaming the series, originally slated for April 27. The makers claim the show examines Bishnoi’s rise as a criminal identity through the prism of student politics, music, ideology and media amplification.
Bishnoi, 33, currently lodged in a Gujarat jail, faces multiple cases and is the prime accused in Moosewala’s murder. Punjab Police had earlier urged the Centre to block the release, warning that such content could glamorize gangster culture and endanger public order.
