Chandigarh, June 1
Haryana Chief Minister, Nayab Singh Saini on Monday flagged off 312 Emergency Response Vehicles (ERVs) for the Haryana Police at Leisure Valley Park, Gurugram. The fleet, comprising 310 motorcycles and two Honda Elevate vehicles, has been provided by Honda India Foundation under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative at a cost of nearly Rs. 5 crores.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that the initiative would play a significant role in further strengthening public safety across Haryana and ensuring quicker assistance to citizens during emergencies. He emphasized that the state government is continuously taking steps to modernize the police force and make it more effective.
The Chief Minister said that the induction of the new ERVs would enhance the reach of the police and enable citizens to receive assistance more quickly than before during crisis situations. Saini said that a police system equipped with modern technology and adequate resources is essential for strengthening citizens’ sense of security and confidence in law enforcement agencies. He said that the state government remains committed to providing Haryana Police with the necessary infrastructure and technological support required for efficient policing.
Appreciating the performance of the Haryana Police, the Chief Minister said that while the average police response time in the country is around 18 minutes, Haryana Police has successfully reduced its response time to just 7 minutes and 3 seconds. He described this achievement as a result of the department’s commitment, efficient management, and adoption of modern policing practices. Timely assistance to citizens, he added, is the true essence of good governance.
The Chief Minister informed that Gurugram has been allotted 60 motorcycles and one Honda Elevate vehicle, while Faridabad has received 40 motorcycles and one Honda Elevate vehicle. The remaining 210 motorcycles have been distributed among other districts across the state. These vehicles will be strategically deployed in sensitive and high-priority locations to ensure rapid police response and timely assistance whenever required.
Appealing to citizens to follow traffic regulations, Saini stressed that awareness and responsible behaviour towards road safety are equally important in building a safe society. He said that collaborative efforts of the government, administration, and private sector help accelerate public welfare initiatives, and this project is a reflection of that collective approach.
Director General of Police, Ajay Singhal said that the addition of the new ERVs would further strengthen the emergency response capabilities of the Haryana Police. He said that the vehicles would be capable of reaching incident locations swiftly upon receiving information and would make it easier to provide timely assistance to citizens in need.
Police Commissioner Shibas Kaviraj said that the modern vehicles would make policing more efficient and effective. He said that motorcycle-based ERVs would prove particularly useful in congested areas and narrow lanes, enabling police personnel to reach emergency situations quickly and provide prompt assistance to citizens.
