The National Institute of Ayurveda (NIA), Panchkula, located in the peaceful surroundings of the Shivalik hills, is strengthening Ayurveda by combining it with modern medical practices. Every day, more than 500 patients visit the institute’s OPD and benefit from Ayurvedic treatment and Panchakarma therapies. The hospital has 12 OPDs and a 100-bed inpatient facility. Students from India and other countries are also studying Ayurveda at the institute.
The National Institute of Ayurveda, Panchkula, works under the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, and is guided by the National Institute of Ayurveda, Jaipur (Deemed University). Located in the Mata Mansa Devi Complex, the institute has been developed as a centre for Ayurvedic education, training, research, and holistic healthcare. Under the guidance of Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Sanjeev Sharma, the institute is emerging as an important healthcare and education centre in North India.
The institute offers the BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) course, where students receive quality education by combining Ayurvedic knowledge with modern medical science. With good infrastructure and advanced facilities, students gain both classroom learning and practical clinical experience. International students are also enrolled in the programme.
Since October 16, 2023, the institute has been providing daily health services in the spirit of “Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah.” These include OPD services, Panchakarma therapy, ECG, and free blood sugar testing. The hospital has 12 OPDs and a 100-bed inpatient facility, and patients are given good-quality medicines free of cost.
Medical services are available in general medicine (Kaya Chikitsa), eye care and ENT, gynaecology and obstetrics, surgery, Panchakarma, paediatrics, emergency care, preventive health, toxicology, skin and cosmetic care. Facilities such as Panchakarma therapy, physiotherapy, operation theatre, yoga, ECG, laboratory tests, ultrasound, and X-ray are also available. Around 500 patients visit the OPD every day for consultation and treatment.
The Panchakarma unit is equipped with modern machines and facilities. Treatments like Vamana, Virechana, Basti, Shirodhara, and Abhyanga are provided here. Patients admitted to the hospital receive free Panchakarma therapy, physiotherapy, ECG, lab tests, ultrasound, X-ray, and yoga services. A large number of patients are benefiting from these services every day.
