Ludhiana, February 9
Dr. Sarwan Kumar, Principal Entomologist (Oilseeds), Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), has been conferred with the prestigious “SRMR Fellow Award” by the Society for Rapeseed-Mustard Research (SRMR), Bharatpur in recognition of his outstanding and sustained contributions to rapeseed-mustard research and development. The award was presented by Dr. Dhiraj Singh, Former Director, ICAR-Indian Institute of Rapeseed-Mustard Research (IIRMR), Bharatpur and Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Deputy Director General (Horticultural Science), ICAR during the ‘National Oilseeds Conference: Edible Oil Security for Atmanirbhar Bharat,’ jointly organized by the Society for Rapeseed-Mustard Research in collaboration with the Indian Society of Oilseeds Research (Hyderabad), Society for Soybean Research and Development (Indore) and Society for Promotion of Oilpalm Research and Development (Pedavegi) and at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi from February 6-8, 2026.
The award ceremony was graced by eminent agricultural scientists and leaders including Dr. T Mohapatra, Chairman, PPV&FRA and Former Secretary (DARE) and Director General, ICAR; Dr. DK Yadava, DDG (Crop Sciences), ICAR; Padma Shri Dr. Arvind Kumar, Former DDG (Education), ICAR; Dr. S. S.Banga, Former ICAR National Professor; Dr. Sanjeev Gupta, ADG (Oilseeds and Pulses), ICAR and Dr. V.V.Singh, Director, ICAR-IIRMR, Bharatpur. On this occasion, Dr. Sarwan Kumar also delivered a lead lecture at the conference showcasing PAU’s scientific leadership and national contribution to oilseeds research.
