Chandigarh, April 7
Marking World Health Day 2026 with a strong focus on the theme – ‘Together for Health, Stand With Science’, the Department of Dietetics, PGIMER Chandigarh, conducted a workshop in Government Model High School, Sector 11, Chandigarh to engage the young students of classes 9th and 10th in intensive discussion and interactive session on ‘Together for Health, Stand With Science’ thematic presentation and quiz contest.
Leading the workshop, Dr. Nancy Sahni, Chief Dietician and Head, Department of Dietetics, disseminated comprehensive expertise regarding importance of healthy lifestyle for young adults and school children. Dr. Nancy Sahni observed, “Nutrition is capable of strengthening immunity, improving physical, mental and emotional health of students especially in adolescent age group and enhance their overall wellbeing’.
Interacting with the school principal, Bindu Puri, who gave her full support to conduct the event, Dr. Nancy highlighted that as primary educational institutions, schools should integrate student’s health promotion in its ordinary teaching and learning practices so that these children can be empowered with right nutrition knowledge backed by scientific evidence and not follow the ‘Instagram Reel Culture’ and get confused and misinformed. Nutrition Quiz contest was heartily participated and enjoyed by the students.
The programme also included the distribution of fruits as snacks to all the participating students of the workshop. The initiative offered a meaningful World Health Day observance, reinforcing PGIMER’s nutrition care philosophy—reminding that health often begins with informed choices at the dining table and today’s children can be the torch bearers for the same for their future generation.
