Shimla, April 28
BJP state president Dr. Rajeev Bindal sharply countered Congress leader and minister Harshvardhan’s statement, saying that branding BJP as anti-women is completely baseless and misleading. He said that while Prime Minister Narendra Modi is making a historic effort to give women 33 per cent political participation, Congress has openly opposed it, exposing its true mindset.
Dr. Bindal said that Congress and its allies opposed the Women’s Reservation Bill in Parliament, worked to topple it, and then celebrated—proving they are not in favor of women’s rights. “Those who oppose giving sister’s participation in power cannot be their well-wishers,” he said. He added that Himachal Pradesh’s 2.8 million women have been waiting for 42 months for the promised ₹1,500 per month. “Each sister should have received nearly ₹60,000 in her account, but the Congress government has not fulfilled even a single promise—this is outright betrayal of women,” he said.
Dr. Bindal accused the Congress government of making women’s lives harder by increasing inflation. “By raising electricity, water, ration, cement, and HRTC fares, and by ending subsidies, the government has imposed additional burdens on mothers and sisters,” Dr. Bindal said. He noted that while thousands of women are taking to the streets to demand their rights, Congress is busy spreading false and fabricated news instead of answering. “The conspiracy to spread confusion through fabricated and manipulated reports is well understood by the people of the state,” he reiterated.
Dr. Bindal said that the Congress government is indulging in blame-game politics to hide its failures, misusing public money in the process. In conclusion, he said, “The mothers and sisters of the state have understood everything—Congress has made every effort to keep them away from participation in power. In the coming days, women’s strength will give a fitting reply.”
