Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today took a dig at the Aam Aadmi Party government for its ‘shukrana yatra’ (thanksgiving march) of the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, saying, the AAP instead needs to perform a “paschatap yatra” (repentance yatra) for ruining and destroying Punjab, particularly its youth with drugs and gangster culture.

Reacting to the ‘Shukrana Yatra’ of the Chief Minister, the PCC president said, while the AAP should indeed be thankful towards the people of Punjab for giving it a sweeping mandate, at the same time it should “introspect and apologise” to them for having betrayed and let them (the people of Punjab) down. He said, the ‘shukrana yatra’ was a typical AAP theatrical drama of self-praise to get credit for doing nothing. He said, the AAP wants to project as if it was the first government to enact stringent anti-sacrilege law.

Warring said, different governments before the AAP had already enacted stringent laws against the sacrilege and the AAP had only repackaged and redrafted an old law and was now trying to claim the credit for it. He said, what the AAP needs to do urgently is to take out a ‘yatra’ across Punjab and name it “paschatap yatra” (the march of repentance) for letting down and betraying Punjabis and for letting the drug and gangster culture flourish in Punjab. “May be people of Punjab will forgive you”, he told the AAP leaders.

“People don’t want or need your ‘shukrana yatras’, they want you to tell them what you did during all these years except repeating fake promises and making false claims”, Warring told the AAP government, adding the time has come when the AAP has to come with answers to the questions from the Punjabis.
