Chandigarh, May 9
Bharatiya Janata Party Punjab Working State President Ashwani Sharma strongly condemned Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for making derogatory remarks against national icons and patriotic organisations in an attempt to divert attention from the corruption and scandals of his government.
Sharma said that it is extremely unfortunate that Bhagwant Mann, intoxicated by power, has stooped so low that he has started insulting great patriots like Vinayak Damodar Savarkar and nationalist organisations merely to save his tainted ministers and protect the image of the Aam Aadmi Party government.
Sharma said that using the sacred name of Bhagat Singh to justify corruption, scams and black deeds of ministers is an insult to the sacrifices made by the martyrs of the nation. “Our martyrs laid down their lives for the pride and unity of India, not to shield corruption under the false drama of ‘kattar imaandari’,” Sharma stated.
The BJP leader further said that every child in Punjab knows that whenever an AAP minister gets trapped in the net of ED or investigating agencies, the AAP leadership starts distorting history and making irresponsible statements to mislead the public.
Sharma asserted that Punjab and the entire nation will never tolerate the insult of Veer Savarkar and other freedom fighters. He demanded that Bhagwant Mann immediately apologise for his shameful remarks and stop politicising the legacy of national heroes for narrow political gains.
“Punjab does not need hollow speeches and diversionary politics. Punjab needs accountability and transparent governance. If the ministers of the AAP government are honest, they should face the law and investigation agencies instead of running away from scrutiny,” he added.
