Dehradun, May 14
On Thursday, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami distributed appointment letters to a total of 307 newly selected candidates at the appointment letter distribution program held at the Chief Sevak Sadan, Chief Minister’s Camp Office. These included 243 medical officers, 42 pharmacists, and 22 laboratory assistants and mushroom supervisors under the Horticulture Department. On this occasion, the Chief Minister congratulated all the selected candidates, stating that the appointment letter is not merely a document of employment but a pledge of service to the 12.5 million people of the state.
The Chief Minister emphasized that in a geographically challenging state like Uttarakhand, the role of health workers is extremely important. In remote and mountainous areas, during times of crisis, the first hope of the people rests with health service personnel. He urged the newly appointed medical officers and health workers to discharge their responsibilities with sensitivity, dedication, and a spirit of service.
Dhami further said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state government is continuously working to strengthen health services in Uttarakhand. Through the Ayushman scheme, millions of families are benefiting from treatment. So far, more than 6.2 million Ayushman cards have been distributed in the state, and nearly 1.2 million patients have received cashless treatment worth over ₹22 billion. The Chief Minister added that medical colleges are being rapidly constructed and operated to expand health facilities. Currently, five medical colleges are operational in the state, while two are under construction. In addition, nine nursing colleges and three nursing schools are functioning. Super-specialty facilities are being expanded at Dehradun, Haldwani, and Srinagar medical colleges, and a modern cancer institute is under construction in Haldwani. Telemedicine and helicopter ambulance services are also being operated to provide better healthcare in remote areas.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the government’s commitment to giving new direction to agriculture and horticulture. Efforts are being made to increase farmers’ income by promoting high-value crops such as kiwi, dragon fruit, high-density apple, mushroom cultivation, and beekeeping. He expressed confidence that the newly appointed youth will play a vital role in giving Uttarakhand a new identity in agricultural innovation and modern horticulture. He reiterated that all recruitment processes in the state are conducted with complete transparency. The strictest anti-cheating law in the country has been implemented here, resulting in more than 32,000 youth securing government jobs in the past four and a half years.
Agriculture and Horticulture Minister Ganesh Joshi said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Dhami, the Horticulture Department has successfully implemented various schemes such as intensive apple orchards, Kiwi Mission, Dragon Fruit Mission, Beekeeping Policy, and the JICA project. He noted that Uttarakhand has immense potential for mushroom production, which can emerge as an additional source of income for farmers, strengthening their economic condition and improving their social and economic status.
Health Minister Subodh Uniyal stated that the appointment of new doctors and pharmacists will help improve health services in the state. He emphasized that the government’s effort is to ensure adequate availability of doctors even in remote areas, so that people can access healthcare services close to their homes. He expressed hope that all doctors will remain dedicated to public service with full sincerity and commitment.
