Faridkot, May 21
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Badal today condemned the manner in which the party’s district urban president Satish Grover had been arrested during the municipal elections and demanded all false cases registered against SAD leaders, including Parambans Singh Romana, be withdrawn immediately.
Addressing a large gathering of party workers here, the SAD president said, “The Aam Aadmi Party government got jittery after the huge public response received by the SAD in this city. They have tried to implicate our leaders in false cases. I want to tell the AAP government that our leaders are not afraid of such false cases. Once we form the government in 2027 we will form a Commission to review all such cases and proceed against all political leaders and officers responsible for the same”.
Badal also met Deputy Commissioner Rahul Chaba to inquire why the SAD district urban president had been arrested and demanded he be released immediately. Badal said that Satish Grover is presently in preventive custody, just for raising people’s voice against the misuse of government machinery.
Lauding Romana and his team for standing up against high handedness, Badal said their spirited protest had thwarted the administration’s bid to reject the nominations of SAD candidates. He highlighted how development had come to a complete stop in the city in the last nine years with both the Congress and AAP doing nothing. “The people of this city have been deprived of even basic facilities”, he asserted while appealing to the people to support the SAD to usher in development and prosperity. He also spoke on how the SAD had earlier established the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences which had brought quality healthcare and medical education to the city.
