Chandigarh, May 22

SAD President Sukhbir Badal has accused the Aam Aadmi Party of bulldozing its way through the Block Samiti and Zila Parishad elections by denying the opposition the right to file nominations, and warned that the same tactics are now being openly announced for the upcoming municipal polls. He said AAP MLAs are brazenly declaring that booth doors will be closed to the opposition, making it evident that the statement of MLA Kulwant Singh Bazigar reflects official government policy.

Badal urged the State Election Commission to intervene immediately to prevent what he described as the institutionalisation of “Saam, Daam, Dand, Bhed” politics in Punjab. He demanded stern action against what he called “power‑intoxicated” AAP leaders and insisted on adequate safeguards, including the installation of CCTV cameras at all polling booths and counting centres, to ensure that the municipal elections are not hijacked.
