Chamoli, June 1
In the picturesque and strategically important Niti Valley of border district Chamoli, the prize distribution ceremony was held to honor winners of various competitions under the ‘Niti Extreme Ultra Run’ organized from May 31 to June 2.
Addressing the ceremony virtually, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, this event organized as part of the Vibrant Village Program will strengthen tourism, employment, and the local economy in border areas.
Dhami stated that under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, border villages are being considered as “the first villages of the nation” and are being connected to the mainstream of development. Events like the ‘Niti Extreme Ultra Run’ are a living example of this vision.
The Chief Minister highlighted that through the Vibrant Village Scheme, expansion of basic facilities in border areas is encouraging reverse migration. He informed that the number of homestays in the Niti region has increased from 35 to more than 450, which is clear evidence of growing tourism potential in the area.
CM emphasized that this ultra run, organized at an altitude of 11,000 feet, has emerged as a symbol of the indomitable courage, energy, and confidence of the youth. “This awakening of Niti Valley is not just an event, but a new chapter of pride, self-reliance, and renewed confidence in border regions.”
He added that this campaign will not stop here but will reach every border valley of Uttarakhand. The Chief Minister congratulated all organizers, the Indian Army, ITBP, and local residents for the success of the event.
Organized by the Tourism Department with the support of the Indian Army and ITBP, this unique event saw participation from more than 1,200 participants from 27 states across the country. The three-day event aimed to promote tourism activities in border areas, give national recognition to local culture, and raise awareness about fitness among youth.
Under the ‘Niti Extreme Ultra Run,’ participants enthusiastically took part in competitions of 5, 10, 21, 42, and 75 kilometers. At the prize distribution ceremony held in Malari village, Tourism Secretary Shri Dheeraj Garbyal and other dignitaries honored the winners with prize money and mementos.
