Ludhiana, January 7
The seven-day camp of the National Service Scheme (NSS) was inaugurated with great enthusiasm and success at Satish Chandra Dhawan Government College, Ludhiana. The camp is being organized under the guidance of the college Principal, Professor (Dr.) Gursharn Jit Singh Sandhu and is centered on the theme “Viksit Bharat and Drug-Free Society.”
The camp commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Principal Dr. Sandhu and the NSS Programme Officers, followed by the Saraswati Vandana presented by the NSS volunteers. Thereafter, the NSS theme song was sung collectively. On this occasion, NSS volunteers gave impactful presentations through poetry recitations, speeches, and songs, conveying a strong message of social awareness.
During the camp, the announcement of NSS student office-bearers was made and responsibilities for upcoming activities were assigned. In the boys’ category, Sujal was appointed President and Prince Kumar as Vice-President, while in the girls’ category, Aarti was appointed President and Jyotsna as Vice-President.
Addressing the volunteers, Principal Prof. (Dr.) Gursharn Jit Singh Sandhu highlighted the significance of NSS Moto, stating that it fosters a sense of social responsibility, service, discipline, and leadership among students. He congratulated the newly constituted council and extended his best wishes, expressing hope that the team would discharge its duties with full dedication and commitment.
Keeping in view the physical and mental well-being of the students, an aerobics activity was organized on the playground. This was followed by a creative session aimed at enhancing the beauty of the college campus. The successful organization of the camp was made possible through the significant contributions of NSS Officers Dr. Devina Ghai, Dr. Saurabh Kumar, Prof. Dinesh Kumar, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar and Prof. Rahul Dhiman.
The objective of the camp is to strengthen the spirit of social service, discipline, leadership, and nation-building among students, while making a positive contribution towards the vision of a developed India. The first day of the camp concluded with the message of discipline, service, and social consciousness. Three NSS units are participating in this camp.
