Fresh storm in Punjab Congress: Just as the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) row seemed to calm, a new clash erupts. Former Deputy CM Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa has now taken aim at state chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring. In a fiery interview to Dainik Bhaskar, Randhawa accused Warring of ignoring senior leaders and publicly humiliating them.
Randhawa said, “I consider Warring my younger brother and leader but he humiliates me from public platforms.” Randhawa further said that when Warring became president, he sent him a congratulatory message from Delhi, but Warring never replied. “I regard him as my younger brother and have always considered him my leader, yet many times, he cracks jokes on stage that leave me feeling deeply humiliated,” he added.
Responding to allegations that Randhawa had struck a deal with BJP leaders, the Gurdaspur MP said, “In my areas — Dera Baba Nanak, Kalanaur, Dinanagar — drones, weapons and hand grenades are coming directly from Pakistan. One of my workers received a call from a jailed gangster demanding ₹50 lakh in ransom before his son’s wedding, threatening to shoot him if he refused. When people come to me with tears in their eyes, should I go to Donald Trump for justice? I have no choice but to approach the Home Minister of India.”
It is pertinent to mention here that Punjab Congress is passing through a worst phase over the issue of the leadership ahead of the State Vidhan Sabha elections slated early next year. While the party remains mired in turmoil, Randhawa’s outburst has further intensified the crisis. His sharp accusations against Warring — from ignoring senior leaders to publicly humiliating them — have laid bare deep fractures within the party.
