Lucknow, June 17

Uttar Pradesh is currently witnessing extreme heat conditions. Temperatures are continuously setting new records, and hot winds have affected normal life. In such circumstances, electricity demand has also increased rapidly. However, under the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) has successfully ensured uninterrupted and quality power supply to the public. Despite record electricity demand, the supply system in the state has remained smooth, providing relief to consumers.

Uttar Pradesh continues to be among the states supplying the highest amount of demand-based electricity in the country. On June 14 and 15, the state ranked first in the country in meeting electricity demand. On June 16, a record demand of 30,760 MW was successfully met in the state. This achievement is significant because despite such high demand, no large-scale power crisis emerged anywhere in the state. In terms of demand-based power supply, Uttar Pradesh has surpassed several major states, including Tamil Nadu, Punjab and Karnataka.

The state supplied 29,579 MW of electricity on June 15 and 29,571 MW on June 14. The continuous record-level power supply reflects the positive results of the efforts made by the Yogi Government to strengthen infrastructure in the energy sector. The government has issued necessary instructions to responsible officials to ensure uninterrupted power supply to residents as per the prescribed roster. As a result, electricity supply conditions have improved significantly in both urban and rural areas compared to earlier years.

People in most parts of the state are receiving electricity for adequate hours, which has also supported domestic, commercial and agricultural activities. Power employees are working round the clock despite extreme heat, strong winds and rain. Faults in power lines are being repaired immediately, while transformers and electrical equipment are being closely monitored. Energy department teams remain active in the field even during the night to carry out maintenance work so that consumers do not face any inconvenience.

To make the power system more modern and reliable, extensive works are being carried out across various districts under the Business Plan 2025-26. The department is also running a special campaign to reduce tripping and fault incidents. Tree branches growing close to power lines are being regularly trimmed. In addition, continuous cleaning work is being carried out around power lines and substations. These measures are reducing the chances of power disruptions during rainfall and strong winds.

Officials have been instructed to carry out regular field inspections. Senior officers are visiting substations and power houses to review arrangements. During inspections, employees are being clearly directed to ensure safe, continuous and quality power supply under all circumstances. Special emphasis is also being placed on the prompt resolution of consumer complaints. UPPCL Director (Distribution) Gyanendra Dhar Dwivedi said, “The state is continuously meeting electricity demand and the entire UPPCL team is working day and night to ensure that consumers do not face any inconvenience.”
