Chandigarh, May 5

Haryana Power Engineers continued their two‑hour work boycott across the state against the power utilities management’s silence, demanding the revocation of the arbitrary transfer of SDO (Uchana), Jojo Taneja, who had detected power theft in his subdivision. They also insisted that the accused individuals who threatened SDO Gaurav in Dadri be arrested without delay.

General Secretary Ravinder Ghanghas stated that engineers across all districts are registering their protest by holding daily “gate meetings” for two hours. He warned that if the management does not abandon its obstinate stance, the agitation will escalate into a “complete work boycott.” Despite the registration of an FIR, the administration’s failure to arrest the accused raises serious questions regarding its functioning. The Association has demanded that the management ensure the immediate arrest of those responsible.

The Haryana Power Engineers Association (HPEA) has declared a decisive struggle against the corporation management’s indifferent attitude and the harassment faced by field officers. Members have been holding peaceful protests since April 13, but the management remains silent on critical issues.

Senior Vice President Baljit Beniwal emphasized that teams tasked with detecting power theft must be provided with adequate police protection to ensure the safety and security of field officers. He further demanded that the vacant posts of Superintending Engineers (SE) in Hansi, Dadri and Nuh be filled without delay. The creation of new divisions, pending since 2019‑20, must be expedited immediately to ensure services are delivered to the public within the stipulated timelines of the RTS Act. Instead of granting ad‑hoc extensions, regular appointments should be made to fill the five vacant posts of Technical Directors within the Haryana Power Utilities.

The Association has unanimously decided that if no action is taken, all engineers will halt duties related to detecting power theft and recovering dues.
