Ludhiana, August 25
A delegation of senior Punjab Congress leaders and eminent personalities from Canada met Member of Parliament Amandeep Kaur Sodhi at her Brampton Centre constituency office in Brampton, Canada today. The delegation, led by former Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) General Secretary Pawan Dewan and former Chairman of the Planning Board SBS Nagar Satvir Singh Palijikki, along with Liberal Party of Canada National Vice-President Hardam Mangat, Amarpreet Aulakh, Yadwinder Sodhi and Ajeet Sodhi. The meeting with MP Amandeep Kaur Sodhi was highly fruitful, marked by constructive discussions.
Giving details of the meeting, Dewan and Satvir said, “In the meeting, in‑depth discussion on India–Canada relations took place. The deliberations focused particularly on trade between the two countries, including the ongoing negotiations between both governments on a Free Trade Agreement.” They added that MP Amandeep Kaur Sodhi informed them that Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand and International Trade Minister Maninder Sidhu are finalizing the terms and conditions with their counterparts in India under the leadership of Prime Minister of Canada Mark Carney and India Prime Minister Narinder Modi.
Dewan and Satvir further said that another significant aspect of their discussion with Amandeep Kaur Sodhi centered on Canadian immigration and issues faced by Indian students. They added, “In addition, since a large number of Indians reside in Canada, we also discussed their concerns such as property matters back home and visas for their families.”
