A high-level meeting was held at the District Collectorate Auditorium, New Tehri, under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand Government, Shri Anand Bardhan, where public representatives and social workers engaged in detailed and interactive discussions on development works and public issues. The meeting provided an important platform for aligning public expectations with administrative priorities.
On this occasion, the Chief Secretary emphasized that cases which can be resolved locally should be settled at the district level itself, ensuring quick relief to the public. He laid special emphasis on completing all processes related to Chief Minister’s announcements within the stipulated timeframe.
Public representatives effectively presented regional needs and development-related issues. Tehri MLA Kishore Upadhyay raised matters related to regional disparities and expansion of reserved areas, while Dhanaulti MLA Pritam Singh Panwar and Ghansali MLA Shakti Lal Shah stressed the need to strengthen disaster management preparedness by ensuring advance availability of resources and equipment.
Devprayag MLA Vinod Kandari highlighted the need to expedite ropeway projects linked to drinking water supply and tourism development, while Minister of State Jot Singh Bisht underlined the requirement of alternative means of riverbank transportation. Minister of State Vinod Suyal drew attention to the increasing pressure and management challenges on the Devprayag–Rishikesh route during the travel season.
Chairman of New Tehri Municipal Council, Mohan Singh Rawat, submitted a memorandum to the Chief Secretary regarding various problems faced by the displaced New Tehri town. Badri-Kedar Temple Committee (BKTC) member Dinesh Dobhal demanded regularization of land in Ghansali Nagar Panchayat and effective efforts to connect Char Dham pilgrims with New Tehri.
Presidents of various municipal bodies in the district also shared information about problems and developmental activities in their respective areas. Municipal Councils of Chamba and Devprayag emphasized the need to expand parking facilities, while representatives of Ghansali and Chamiyala Nagar Panchayats raised concerns about increasing wildlife attacks causing damage to public life and agriculture.
Block development heads and other public representatives seriously presented issues related to drinking water, health, education, roads, and wildlife management. On all these matters, the Chief Secretary adopted a sensitive approach and directed the concerned departments to ensure prompt and effective action.
This meeting indicated that development at the district level is not merely about implementing schemes, but a shared responsibility of continuous dialogue, coordination, and accountability.
