Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan held a review meeting with the Department of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs at the Secretariat on Friday regarding food grains and essential commodities. He sought information from Food Commissioner B.L. Rana about the availability and prices of daily necessities in the state.

The Chief Secretary directed the concerned departments to ensure continuous and regular monitoring so that essential commodities required for daily life are available to the public at fair prices without interruption. He instructed that constant vigilance be maintained over the availability and price situation of food items, diesel-petrol, LPG, and other essential consumer goods in the market, so that the general public does not face any inconvenience.

CS gave clear instructions that strict action must be taken against elements involved in black marketing, hoarding, or creating artificial scarcity of essential commodities. For this, the departments should conduct regular inspection drives and ensure routine checks of markets, warehouses, and wholesale traders.

The Chief Secretary emphasized that the state government is fully committed to providing relief to the public and maintaining smooth market operations. He directed that special attention be given to the availability and price control of essential commodities in all districts, particularly those connected with the Char Dham Yatra, and that immediate effective action be taken against any irregularities found.
